The symposium is oriented to solve, through investigation and technology, fruit and vegetable production problems in a changing and dynamic world of demands.

Accurate information is required (Traceability, innocuousness, quality standards and international trade) not only for food industry producers, intermediaries and distributors, but also for the intended consumer.
In this meeting, we plan to create opportunities to respond to these challenges:

Highest quality in agricultural products

To increase the quality of products, agricultural production must reunify mass yield with an adequate administrative management of resources, improving yield conditions, storage, and fruit and vegetable distribution.

Environmentally Friendlier Production

Fruits and vegetables are the portrait par excellence of a healthy life. Consumers expect agricultural products with the least amount of alterations possible. They are concerned about knowing the origin of products, in environments which have been treated with the least pesticides, fertilizers, chemicalsFurther, consumers expect storage conditions and transportation of those products that guarantee their integrity to be able to enjoy their natural characteristics.

Recovering consumer`s confidence

The confidence of consumers about the food they eat is susceptible to a decreasemore importantly than an ignorance about the productive processes and resulting quality. Industrial intervention, polluting aggressions of the environment over products, and a lack of information about the origin of those have an impact and relevance on the yield profitability and exportation of agricultural products. Because of that, a production responsible for the accomplishment of standards and requirements is necessary to offer more and better agricultural products.

These 3 areas converge toward a final objective, which is a reduction of production cost and increasing quality and profitability in fruit and vegetable production, and in the long term, boosting industry development under safe and stable conditions. The dynamics of markets and mobility of their needs will require the optimization of resources. Frutic is the most important opportunity at aninternational level, where answers and tools to achieve this objective are looked for through information and technology.

About scientific issues of Symposium

The symposium gathers more than 300 scientists from 30 countries, where approximately 120 papers and 80 speeches are presented. Additionally, it relies on the most important companies producing technologies applied to world agriculture. Technological issues that will be tackled at the symposium are:

Titulo Agricultura de Precisión
Precision Agriculture is a set of agricultural activities realized using high-tech instruments and specific methodologies for its implementation. The main objective is to analyze field variability and the profit process to estimate, evaluate, and understand such variability, and how they influence quality and final profitability of products. For such analysis, technological resources are used, mainly from 2 areas: Teledetection technologies and remote sensing, which allow detection of different land features and crops (Global Positioning Systems (GPS), airplane and satellite mounted sensors), and Geographical Information Systems (GIS), software that permits analysis and management of collected data to create databases allowing graphic displaying of land data, and subsequently making certain questions about obtained features.
Titulo Robótica y Nanotecnología

In the field of Robotics, task automation, work and farming processes through machines, and automated equipment will be analyzed. Incipient development of knowledge and nanotechnology applications will converge towards the agricultural sector to improve the quality of products.

Titulo Sensoramiento en terreno  y Packing

Applied technologies on site are to determine fruit features and its harvest time. There are machines and equipment for packing, conservation, and transport of fruit products. The consumer can rely on containers and packages, which will provide information about the fruit condition or product right away, to get it according to likes and needs, information that will result in a complete monitoring system for every stage.

Titulo Sistemas de Información Geográfica

Geographical Information Systems (GIS) are a Tele-detection and software set that allow analysis and management of collected data to create databases providing graphic display of land data and subsequently making certain questions about obtained features. GIS is promoted by on-site data that will be logged into a system which analyzes that data spatially, resulting in maps with several information layers that allow analysis of every variable of an agricultural process.

Titulo Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación para la agricultura

Wireless communication technologies, connectivity and data transferring for data managing on site. There exists implementation of virtual platforms for broadcasting and knowledge, such as e-learning, for producers, companies, and the agricultural industry to benefit. Improving communication channels results in increased and better businesses.

Titulo Geotrazabilidad y Mercados Globales

Traceability is a set of measures, actions and procedures to record and identify every product from its origin to its final destination. It consists in the ability to rebuild history, trajectory or application of a determined product identifying:

    * Origin of its components
    * History of processes applied to product
    * Distribution and location after its delivery  

Relying on this information, delivering of products defined as specific markets is possible, guaranteeing accurate knowledge of origin and history. The traceability concept is associated to modern yield processes and high quality products and value for the final customer.

Titulo Tecnologías Post Cosecha & Calidad

The set of equipment and technology, that assures quality of resulting product thus extending at maximum time for the fruit or product to keep its natural features.

Titulo Agricultura de Precisión y su impacto ambiental

Environment Friendly Technologies, innocuous processes for preserving natural resources. Precision agriculture looks for improving production processes using technologies that decrease environmental impact of farming activity through the best managing of resources such as irrigation, fertilization, use of products for disease control, etc.

Titulo Detección de Enfermedades mediante teconlogía

Imagery technologies are a key factor in agricultural yield process. With sensors that measure light spectrum, magnetic waves, temperature variables, textures, etc., and vigour conditions by images, is possible to determine problems in crops.
